Congratulations to Jack Doxsey, a healthcare support worker at Dawlish Community Hospital, for being our most recent winner of the Primrose award.
Jack was nominated by a colleague, who said, “Jack came to Dawlish Hospital completely brand new to care, as a 21-year-old young man. Jack has shown so much empathy and understanding for the patients.
One particular patient who Jack was 1:1 with was a dementia patient and repetitive; Jack spent a 12-hour shift with this patient, and the empathy, compassion and care Jack showed was heart-warming. He answered the patients questions each time as if it was the first time the patient had asked, he helped feed and encourage the patient with all his daily activities and I believe Jack should be recognised for this.”
This award was particularly special as Jack is leaving us to further his studies in September in Physiotherapy. We wish him all the very best and would like to thank him for being such a wonderful part of the team these past 10 months.
