McCallum ward has been working very hard on transforming its ward into a ready to go ward, and three weeks into the project we are already seeing great results and positive change.
Before ready to go was set up, McCallum ward discharged 64 patients during 03 and 23 July 2023. 15 patients were discharged before noon (23.3%) and 45 patients before 5pm (70.3%).
During the first three weeks of the test of change for the ward there has been a significant improvement with 38 patients able to go home before noon (56.7%) and 58 patients before 5pm (86.6%).
Feedback from patients is also really positive, with 70% of people saying they strongly agree/agree that they had more opportunities for the care they would like to receive on discharge, and several others saying how nice the ward was, and how lovely the staff are. A huge congratulations to the ward team for its improvement and for delivering amazing results! It’s supporting us to achieve our NOF4 exit criteria of 33% of our patients being discharged by noon and supporting our home for lunch principles.
