Changes to COVID-19 vaccination

In response to queries about the change from Pfizer to Moderna for the COVID-19 vaccination we can advise that the change is solely driven by the need to manage the centrally held vaccine stock and minimise wastage, therefore, at times one vaccine type will need to be prioritised over another to maximise usage.

The Pfizer, Moderna and Sanofi vaccines are bioequivalent and the national plan is to use them interchangeably throughout this year’s vaccination programme.

Anyone who has received the Pfizer vaccine in this round of the vaccination programme should rest assured that they are protected.
