SAS Week 2023

We had an incredible SAS Week this year, celebrating and championing our SAS doctors with a range of special events. SAS doctors are specialty doctors or specialist grade doctors with at least four years of postgraduate training, two of which are in a relevant specialty. SAS doctors are a diverse group with a wide range of skills, experience and specialties.

This included:

• creation of an SAS strategy, with JLNC and managers as an enhancement to our local SAS charter
• SAS doctors annual general meeting, led by SAS JLNC Chair.
• grand opening of the refurbished SAS office, improving the function of the room for multiple users, facilitating SAS doctors to perform more roles and confidential work in an enhanced and more functional space. This was funded by NHSE SAS development monies from 2021/22 and 2023/24.

The week culminated our first SAS awards celebration event; a special evening recognising the achievements of our SAS doctors. Winners received a crystal trophy engraved with the year of award and trust insignia and an educational fund prize from the SAS development fund. You can read more about the awards and our winners on ICON.
