What’s happening?
Currently, USB storage devices (including USB memory sticks, USB hard drives, tablets, and cameras) can be accessed on desktops and laptops in a read only format. Due to cybersecurity risks and software upgrades this will be changing, all USB storage devices not approved will be completely blocked. Any USB storage devices that have previously gone through an approval process will not be affected and will remain accessible.
This will only affect USB devices with storage capabilities and not impact headphones, microphones or webcams.

What to do if access is required?
Please contact the desktop team via the service desk, providing as much information as possible including the SDH number of the desktop or laptop you will be using to access the USB storage device.
