This week the team on Simpson, which specialises in care for the older person, went the extra mile to ensure one patient didn’t miss out on a special day for the family.
Lead nurse Lucy Waring explained: “On Monday we were asked to accommodate a small blessing on the ward for a patient’s daughter and her fiancé, as the patient would not be able to share in her daughter’s special day.
“The team was given a very small amount of notice, but all on the ward set to work to create a beautiful environment to make the occasion as memorable as possible.
“I was overwhelmed by the amount of team work, compassion and kindness displayed from every member of the team, from the kitchen staff, domestics, housekeepers, Healthcare Assistants, nurses, ward clerks and doctors, to our chaplains and digital technology teams.
“With little time and little budget, the team created something quite magical!”
As you can see from the pictures, the team created a beautiful setting for this special moment, and brought a huge amount of joy to the patient and her family who were very grateful.
They said that the day was a memory that they will cherish forever.
Well done to all who pitched in to make this possible.
